River Valley Counseling Center provides mental health therapy during the school day.
What is RVCC School-Based Therapy?
RVCC partners with local school districts to provide mental health counseling during the school day. School-based therapists address a range of mental health challenges, while also supporting school-specific emotional and behavioral needs. This onsite collaboration between RVCC’s providers and school staff improves student wellness and success.
Why Choose School-Based Therapy?
- Accessibility & Convenience: Conveniently located within the school premises, school-based therapy sessions are integrated into students’ school schedules. This approach alleviates common barriers families face in accessing mental health treatment for their children such as transportation constraints, long waitlists, and scheduling conflicts.
- Familiar Environment: For many students, schools are familiar and comfortable environments. Having therapy sessions at school reduces the stigma associated with seeking mental health support and helps students feel more at ease during sessions.
- Collaboration: Our therapists collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to provide a holistic approach to each student’s well-being. This collaboration ensures that interventions are aligned with personal and academic goals, maximizing the impact of therapy at school, home, and in the community.
- Early Intervention: Addressing mental health concerns early can prevent them from escalating into more significant challenges later on. By collaborating with schools, our therapists increase access to services for young people improving their current and future wellness.
- Quality Care: Our school therapists are passionately committed to helping children and their families. They are well trained, licensed or license-eligible, and receive regular supervision and support to excel in their field.
