River Valley Counseling Center (RVCC) is a multifaceted community-based mental health agency that has been changing lives and empowering people throughout the Pioneer Valley since 1953.

The staff at RVCC includes psychiatrists, psychologists, advance practice registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed mental health clinicians, licensed clinical social workers, HIV/AIDS case managers, housing advocates, and therapeutic mentors. RVCC offers many therapy options including individual, family, and group counseling.

RVCC has Massachusetts certified gambling specialists and provides counseling for those who struggle with the dual diagnosis of mental health and substance use. RVCC partners with local physicians to offer an integrated approach to substance use treatment.

RVCC partners with local agencies and is the mental health provider for the clients of WestMass Elder Care Inc., LifePath, Womanshelter/Companeras, Enlace de Familias, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holyoke, and ROCA. RVCC is also currently offering telehealth services as an option during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Careful attention is given to the cultural sensitivities and specific issues affecting our Spanish-speaking and African American clients. Programs are staffed with experienced bilingual/bi-cultural professionals. RVCC is also a LGBTQ safe place.

RVCC was founded in 1953, became affiliated with Holyoke Medical Center in 1986 and is a member of Valley Health Systems which includes the affiliates Holyoke Medical Center, Holyoke Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice Life Care, and Holyoke Medical Group.

RVCC is a non-profit organization that is tax-exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Not deny services based in a person’s age, race, color, gender, gender identity, national origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or inability to pay.
  • We accept MOST insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). We do not accept Health Safety Net.

Notice to Clients:
River Valley Counseling Center serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income.
